Audits & Consultation

Let us help you design a service configuration that meets your recycling or garbage (landfill-bound) collection needs.  Our objectives are to increase your recycling and diversion practices as well as to decrease the amount of material that is landfill-bound.

Our consultation team begins by conducting an on-site waste audit to help your company apply the best management practices to the material discarded.  Based on your audit results, we make recommendations on how to reduce your collection expense and positively impact the environment.

In short, our consultation team provides:

  • Site visits to determine your goals, space requirements and implementation timeline;
  • Waste auditing of your current waste stream;
  • Customized service proposals for a variety of collection services and equipment options;
  • Implementation of new resource recovery programs or improvement of programs currently in place;
  • A single point of contact during program implementation; and
  • Resource recovery signs, fliers, stickers, and educational training.

Assembly Bill 341

Important News- California adopts new mandatory recycling laws for businesses and multi-family complexes effective July 1, 2012.

recycle logoIn an effort to increase recycling and meet a 75% diversion goal the State of California has enacted a new law that requires most businesses and multi-family complexes to provide recycling services. AB 341 requires these recycling programs to be instituted by July 1, 2012. However, the County of San Benito and Cities of Hollister and San Juan Bautista anticipated this action and recycling services are already included in the commercial service rates. The vast majority of our community will be unaffected by this new mandate as we are already in compliance.

Frequently asked questions:

What businesses and multi-family complexes are affected?
Businesses that generate four (4) cubic yards or more of garbage each week and multi-family complexes with five (5) or more units must provide recycling programs.

Will the mandatory recycling services cost me more?
No. Recycling services are provided at no additional cost to you by Recology San Benito County as noted above.

How do I go about getting recycling services if I don’t already have the service?
Just call our customer service number at (831) 636-7500 and ask to speak to someone about starting recycling services. A Waste Zero Specialist will speak to you or call you back to assist you in starting your recycling program.

Please contact us to speak to a Specialist.

What if I do my own recycling or recycling is provided by another service provider?
That is fine as long as we can confirm that a recycling program is in place at your business or multi-family complex.

What happens if I do not start a recycling program?
A representative from the Recology San Benito County or the San Benito County Integrated Waste Management Regional Agency will contact you to speak to you about starting a recycling program and how it can save you money.

For more information about this new law go to www.calrecycle.ca.gov and search AB 341
