Residential Garbage Program

Recology San Benito County Garbage Cart Garbage collection is provided to customers that reside within the city limits and unincorporated San Benito County. Customers are provided with a 20, 32, 64, or 96 gallon cart.

All garbage and recycling containers need to be placed at the curb or roadside the night before your service day, or by 6:00am on your service day. Place all waste inside your containers. Do not place waste materials on top, or next to your garbage cart. You may dispose of occasional excess garbage by calling our office at least a day before your service day. Fee applies. Acceptable Garbage Materials
Only put non-recyclable materials into your gray container!
Glass
  • Ceramics, dishware, drinking glasses, Pyrex, porcelain, stemware
  • Light bulbs (no fluorescent bulbs)
  • Mirrors or window glass

Metal
  • Aluminum foil
  • Coat hangers
  • Food trays or pans
  • Spray cans (hair spray or paint)

Organic Material
  • Animal feces or manure

Paper
  • Adhesive-backed paper
  • Carbon paper
  • Hardcover books or binders
  • Photographs
  • Plastic or foil lining cereal or cracker boxes
  • Soiled papers, food wrappings, napkins, tissues or towels
  • Thermal fax paper

Plastic
  • Plastic furniture
  • PVC or other piping
  • Styrofoam/polystyrene containers and packing peanuts
  • Toys, trays, cups, garden hoses, plant pots, furniture

Unacceptable Garbage Material
Please do not place the following materials into your gray container!
Construction Debris
  • Concrete, rocks, dirt
Electronic / Universal Waste
  • Televisions, computers, cell phones, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, mercury switches
Hot Ashes or Coals

Household Hazardous Waste
  • Paints, solvents, motor oil, cleaners, corrosives, fuel tanks - propane tanks
Recyclable Glass, Metal, Paper and Plastic
  • All recyclable materials

Service Information

Residential Collection
Please set out your garbage, recycling and yard trimming carts in the street by 6:00am on collection day and remove them no later than the next day. Place carts at least 18 inches apart on the street by the curb. Store the carts behind a hedge, fence or other area screened from street view as a courtesy to your neighbors.

Billing Information:
If you choose to mail a payment in monthly, please include your account number on your check. The past due date for your statement will be shown on the bottom of the statement.
